Press Release

2005 Game of Logging Finals at the Midwest Forest Industry Show in St. Charles, Missouri

June 25, 2005 – Jefferson City, Mo: This year’s Professional (Saturday - 24) and Collegiate (Friday - 23) Game of Logging Finals will be held at the Midwest Forest Industry Show in St. Charles, Missouri, on Friday and Saturday, September 23 - 24.

Competitors qualify for the Finals by competing in and winning Regional Game of Logging Competitions held earlier in the year. The competitors will be scored by Game of Logging instructors on several different events, included in those events are speed cuts, bore cut, springpole, notch cut and the tree felling. The speed cuts test the efficiency that the chainsaw blade (that is sharpened by the competitor) cuts through the log, the bore cut tests the accuracy and steadiness of the cutter, while the springpole and the notch cut tests the cutters technical knowledge and execution of these cuts. The finale is the fan favorite, tree felling competition. Each competitor assesses where they believe their tree will fall and marks that spot with a target, then attempts to hit the target with the felled tree.

Game of Logging competitions always make for an exciting day with cash prizes awarded to the first, second and third place finishers in the amounts of $10,000, $5,000 and $2,500 for Professionals and $1,000, $500 and $250 for Collegiates. Sponsorship for the competition is provided by Game of Logging and Husqvarna.
