MFPA hosts OSHA Fork Lift Training at two MO locations

Mountain View and Perryville are the only locations in the state to receive OSHA certification

November 18, 2004—Jefferson City, MO:  The Missouri Forest Products Association (MFPA) has teamed with the Missouri Wood Industry Insurance Trust (MWIIT), Smith Flooring, Inc. and Rustic Wood Products to sponsor and host the OSHA Forklift Training program on December 15 and December 16.

The program is entitled “Powered Industrial Trucks Train the Trainer.” OSHA requires employers to certify all forklift drivers. This training for trainers seminar is intended to train key employees so they may become certified trainers. Once this is complete, lift operators can be trained at a facility on an ‘as needed’ basis.

Documentation is a key element in the standard, and course manuals will include employee certificates, training logs, inspection forms and copies of the actual standard.

“It is important that Missourians take advantage of a national training program to ensure workplace safety in 2005,” MFPA Education Manager Glenda Fry said. “The program offers the educational information to develop better trainers at facilities across Missouri.”

The December 15 program will be held in Mountain View at Smith Flooring, Inc. located at 1501 West Highway 60. The December 16 program will be held in Perryville at Rustic Wood Products located at 6347 South Highway 51.

Costs are $125 for MFPA or MWITT Trust member and $200 for non-association members.
