On-line timber sale introduced by MFPA, public invited to post sales

Program is yet another MFPA benefit to forest landowners

November 13, 2004—Jefferson City, MO:  The Missouri Forests Products Association (MFPA) has introduced yet another benefit to forest landowners in the form of the on-line timber sale that was officially launched today on the MFPA website, www.moforest.org. A link currently on the MFPA home page will direct visitors to the site.

MFPA’s Forest Resource and Membership & Marketing Committees joined efforts to develop an on-line market place for forest landowners and forest professionals to advertise timber sales. The organization has answered its constituents’ claims that they are not being informed about timber sales.

“All landowners should take advantage of this new opportunity to post their timber sales on such a prominent site with statewide and regional exposure,” MFPA Executive Director Cory Ridenhour said. “We encourage the entire public to post their sales and to bid on timber that meets their needs.”

The public can view current sales by visiting

www.moforest.org/timbersale.php. The system is designed to be easy. An individual goes to the MFPA website and posts their timber sale. After it is posted the sale will be added to the current list and MFPA members will be automatically notified of the new posting. To receive electronic bid sales, industry members—companies and individuals alike, are encouraged to visit the site and enroll in the program.

Basic information requested to participate in the on-line timber sale includes: Address, E-mail, species, estimated volume, county location, number of treated acres and a bid deadline.
