Press Release

MFPA informs audiences statewide about forestry, outside and in the home

People interested to learn the truth about forests; tips on performing urban forestry in the home

April 7, 2004, Jefferson City, MO:  As Earth Day (April 22) and Arbor Day (April 30) quickly approach, the Missouri Forest Products Association (MFPA), is springing into action across the state.  MFPA is taking advantage of the industry-related holidays to tell people the truth about their forests and give helpful tips about how the public can provide optimal care to their plants and trees inside or outside of the home.

Founded in 1970, MFPA is committed to promoting conservation and the wise use of natural resources.  The organization traditionally uses Earth Day and

Arbor Day to enlighten Missourians about the current condition of our forests and how to provide the best care to your plants and/or trees at home.

“We always captivate the audience with the facts we provide,” MFPA Executive Director Cory Ridenhour said. “Our information about the forests is surprising and everybody wants to know the best way to keep their plants and trees growing.”

  MFPA facts that surprise Missourians:

bulletMissouri gained 1 million acres of forest land between 1972 & 1989
bulletMissouri forests are growing 2.2 times faster than they are being harvested
bulletEach year about 1.4 billion tree seedlings are planted — 4 million per day
bulletAvoid heavy pruning of plants, trees and shrubs as leaves are expanding  in early Spring (APRIL & MAY)
bulletMuch more!

These intriguing facts do not have to be well-kept secrets from your community!  MFPA is available to discuss these and other issues, before, during and after

Earth Day / Arbor Day celebrations.
