Missouri Inconsistent Practices ProgramCall the Missouri Inconsistent Practices Program Line at 573-681-9358 or Click here to send us your comments/observations about specific forestry practices online. The Missouri Inconsistent Practices Program is a way for citizens to register concerns they have about specific timber harvesting and forest management practices they see in Missouri. How Does The Missouri Inconsistent Practices Program Work? YOU REGISTER If you see specific timber harvesting and forest management practices that concern you, register your complaint at 573-681-9358 or on the web at http://www.moforest.org/inconsistentpracticesprogram.htm After you have registered your complaint, Missouri Forest Products Association staff will send you a short form to gather information about your concern. Missouri Forest Products Association staff begins looking into the concern when they receive the form. Missouri Forest Products Association staff will confirm the exact location of the property and contact everyone involved- the landowner, logger, forester and other as needed. Staff explains that a citizen has registered a concern about forest management being done on the property and explores the forestry practices in question to find out what has occurred. EDUCATION When appropriate, the Missouri Forest Products Association distribute educational materials to all parties associated with the concern. These materials might include Standards for Sustainable Forestry Initiative®, Best Management Practices, Missouri Watershed Protection Practice or information about marketing timber from private woodlands. What To Expect From The Missouri Inconsistent Practices Program Missouri Forest Products Association educates citizens about forest management practices. However, Missouri Forest Products Association cannot impose punitive measures through the Missouri Inconsistent Practices Program. Therefore, the Missouri Forest Products Association will not take legal action or resolve disputes between parties over contractual or legal issues regarding forest management activities. However, the Missouri Inconsistent Practice Program allows you to: formally let Missouri Forest Products Association know your concerns about forest management activities you see; and be a catalyst for mitigation of any problems on a site. Furthermore, landowners, loggers and forest managers also benefit by becoming more aware of concerns regarding forest management and learning more about guidelines for sustainable forest management. Summaries of concerns registered through the Missouri Inconsistent Practices Program will help Missouri Forest Products Association better understand citizens’ expectation for how Missouri’s forests should be managed. Missouri Forest Products Association can utilize these insights in deciding which, if any, additional forest management guidelines are needed and recommending continuing education programs for forest managers and owners, loggers, and citizens.
