New Zealand Standards



IMPORTANT NOTE: Phytosanitary Certificate (PC) is not required nor authorized for wood packing material when used as packing. Treatment is not mandatory but shipments arriving in New Zealand without treatment are subject to inspection.

Requirements:
  • Must be free from pests that New Zealand has identified as being associated with wood packing material.
  • Must not contain or be contaminated with greater than 0.01% by weight with extraneous material (e.g. leaves, soil, etc.).
  • Must be bark-free: wood from which all bark excluding vascular cambium,ingrown bark around knots, and bark pockets between rings of annual growth has been removed.
  • Heat Treat at a minimum core temperature of 70 degrees Centigrade for more than 4 hours.

    Wood packing material must be treated NO more than twenty-one (21) days before export to New Zealand.

    Statement on Treatment Certificate that,

"The wood packaging material has been heated for (insert duration of treatment) at a minimum core temperature of (insert minimum core temperature during treatment) on the (insert date of treatment (dd/mm/yy))." OR,

  • WARNING: Treatment certificates will not be accepted for wood packing material that is treated in compliance with ISPM 15 BUT not marked as specified in ISPM 15. Shipments not meeting both the treatment and labeling requirements of ISPM 15 will be considered "untreated."
