Missouri
Forest Products Association
Certified
Logging Company
Criteria
Purpose: To
recognize a company for their outstanding credentials as a business
that supports a healthy forest, responsible environmental practices,
uses Best Management Practices, and creates a safe work environment
for their loggers. Companies may use the certification to
promote their business. The Association will also promote
companies that have the certification.
Procedure: Companies
may apply for the annual certification by a simple application
that will note the loggers trained and not trained. The application
must be certified by the company owner. The certification
would be based on a calendar year, but may be obtained at any time
through-out the year. There will be a non-refundable $20
application fee for the certification.
Definitions: “Logger”: anyone
involved in the harvesting process or who operates a chain saw
more than 10% in the course of their employment duties.
“Trained
Logger”: anyone holding a Professional Timber Harvester certificate
of completion and duly completing the continuing education courses
required.
“Enrolled”:
anyone registered for a class and actively attending the sessions
Criteria: Each
company must have:
90% “Trained
Loggers” with the remaining 10%, or one Logger, currently “enrolled” in
the Professional Timber Harvester Program. The Certified
Logging Company’s goal is to have 100% “Trained Loggers”.
Failure
to meet the above Criteria for the current year will result in
a failed application the following year.
